Humble is the name of the game!

Despite the fact that he was an 8th place finalist and he has partied with the likes of Ashton Kutcher and Cameron Diaz, Michael Johns remains a modest man.

On April 10th a dark cloud descended over America as hardcore fans were forced to watch their beloved idol exit the legendary stage once and for all. Fortunately there’s a reason to smile again, for the 29-year-old brunette crooner is without regrets and is presently headlining a promotional tour in his native homeland Australia.

Although Michael claims to be uncomfortable with the act of name-dropping, he has learned that it becomes more and more difficult to steer clear of after intimate chats with an A-Lister such as Demi Moore.

Last weekend Johns attended the White House Correspondents dinner where he happily strutted down the red carpet next to Martha Stewart and Colin Powell. One of his greatest memories however, was conversing with the US Secretary of State.

“The most surreal moment has to be when my friend comes up to me and says: ‘Condoleeza Rica wants to meet you, she’s a huge fan,’” the singer gushed in AAP interview. “So she was like: ‘Oh my gosh Michael, I just have to tell you that I just love you, and I think you’re such a great singer and have such a bright future ahead of you. Can I get a photo?’”

And how did he reply? “I’m like: ‘Sure thing Condoleeza Rice.’ I said: ‘Maybe we can do a song together,’ and I started singing Great Balls of Fire,” Johns divulged. “She goes: ‘Oh no, I do more like Mozart or Chopin.’” Can’t argue with that!

Proving that he is 100% down-to-earth once again, Michael explained exactly why he is a tad embarrassed discussing his ventures: “I feel bad - it’s the whole Aussie mentality that you just feel like you’re name-dropping. But all this has gone down in the last four weeks. I don’t want to come off as a bit of a dick. Over there it’s a different world.”

Johns, being the trooper that he is, added that he feels no shame in having been let go from American Idol; he saw that amazing experience as a sort of “platform” to demonstrate the type of record he aspires to make.

Speaking of music, the performer has already gained interest from various labels. And when “…the time’s right” he will organize meetings to get signed for the fourth time in his career.
“I’m working with Diane Warren right now,” Johns concluded. “And I want to work with Mark Ronson, who did Amy’s (Winehouse) last record. I also ran into Cee-Lo from Gnarls Barkley when I was in New York, so I definitely want to write with him.”

Whether or not Michael achieves his dream of releasing a debut album by next year, this talented young man is going to shine.
