For a such a publicity-crazed celebrity and a guy who has a vastly colourful repertoire of put downs, snidey remarks and politically incorrect and brutally honest commentary, Simon Cowell certainly doesn’t believe in transferring that dimension of his personality to his wardrobe.

Unlike his fellow judges on the American reality show American Idol, Paula Abdul and Randy Jackson and of course the ‘maggot-like’ compare, Ryan Seacrest, Simon has adopted a totally monochromatic styled wardrobe consisting of black T shirts and jeans.

Paula arrives every week looking increasingly like a Barbie doll that has been relegated to the back of the toy cupboard for the past 3 decades and displays all the intellect of Barbie on a substance better known on the street than in the toy cupboard. Randy Jackson comes complete with a camping bed foot pump which it would appear he inflates with a few extra pounds of air on a weekly basis often hiding his cubby little face behind a large pair of eye glasses.

Albeit that Cowell’s uniform is straight from the racks of Armani, and leaves little to the imagination as to what lies beneath, the main impression given by his chosen style is one of confidence, genuine appraisal and to these ends his rude delivery can always be taken seriously by the less talented contestants.

None the less, his casual appearance has seen ‘snarky Simon’ or Mr Nasty as he has been referred to, ranking at number 29 in the Forbes Top 100 Celebrity list and he’s ranked as the UK’s highest paid TV star with an estimated fortune of £100 million.

So with all the comings and goings on Idol each week, the tears, the fashions, the Abdul ramblings, the patronizing and the criticism, its Simon and his wardrobe that remain constant!

If success comes with a black T and a pair of jeans, we’re all off to Old Navy!
